Throwback Video Of The Week

Mobb Deep x Lil Kim | Quiet Storm Remix | Murda Muzik | 1999 loud Records

Mobb Deep ft Lil Kim - Quiet Storm Remix

Murda Muzik is Mobb Deep's fourth album released in 1999. It features one of the group's best-known and most acclaimed songs, "Quiet Storm." It is also the duo's highest-selling album, with sales over 1 million copies and was certified Platinum by the RIAA. Being commercially successful, Murda Muzik also garnered positive reviews from The Source and Allmusic. A censored version of the album, titled Mobb Muzik, was released simultaneously. The song Quiet Storm was originally released on the soundtrack for the film In Too Deep. The song features a sample of the bass line from the classic hip-hop song "White Lines (Don't Do It)" by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five. It also features a sample from Smokey Robinson's "A Quiet Storm". The song is widely thought to be one of Mobb Deep's greatest songs.

Throwback Video Of The Week

Slick Rick | Children's Story | The Great Adventures of Slick Rick | Def Jam 1988

"Children's Story" is a single by London-born American hip hop artist Slick Rick, from his album The Great Adventures of Slick Rick. It is a tragic tale that can be interpreted as an implicit condemnation of violence and greed. The album is among the few to receive a perfect five mic score from Source magazine.

Throwback Video Of The Week

Pete Rock & CL Smooth | T.R.O.Y. | Mecca and the soul brother | Elektra 1992 |

"They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)" is a song by Pete Rock and CL Smooth, inspired by the death of their close friend Troy Dixon (better known as "Trouble" T. Roy of Heavy D & the Boyz) in 1990. The song was the lead single off their debut album, Mecca and the Soul Brother, released in 1992, and later became a staple of classic early 90's hip hop. The song peaked at #58 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart. One of my FAVORITE songs.
